    It all began with Poland's independence on 11 November 1918.
    Hope soon gave way to reality: the lack of work drove many families into exile. France became a land of welcome... and hard work.
    In the mines of Montceau- les -Mines, the Poles discovered a harsh but supportive daily life, punctuated by work, school, religion... and, soon, war.
    Then the Italians arrived. Among them was Giacomo, who...

    In the mines of Montceau- les -Mines, the Poles discovered a harsh but supportive daily life, punctuated by work, school, religion... and, soon, war.
    Then the Italians arrived. Among them was Giacomo, who was forced to leave his village of Avigliano Umbro, leaving Maria and Egidio behind. In Montceau-les-Mines, he meets the priest Camillo Vallotta and Pasquale, another uprooted man...
    This show is a tribute to these often forgotten lives, to these stories of hope, pain and courage.
