The Tour du Bost, an imposing quadrangular keep, is a listed historic monument. In its current state, it rises 30 metres above the ground. The Tour du Bost, an imposing quadrangular keep, is a listed historic monument. In its current state, it rises 30 metres above the ground. It is a defensive tower, an outpost of the ancient castles of Montcenis and Uchon, but also a place of residence and prestige, the chief town of an important seigneury in the region. The date of its construction is unknown, but specialists estimate that it dates from the 14th century. It is a unique building, with a staircase built into the walls and rising from the basement to the top. Partly destroyed by fire in 1920, it was in danger of collapsing.
The creation of a conservation association, "La Tour du Bost", has gradually brought it back to life. Since 1991, the association has been working on its restoration with the help of volunteers on summer work camps and integration workshops supervised by the TREMPLIN organisation, who work permanently on the site.
Please note that as the site is privately owned, it is only accessible on specific dates or by appointment.
