Title of the lecture: "Metal additive manufacturing by wire deposition: application to Hot Isostatic Compression (HIC) of powder in the CALHIPSO framework".
Hot Isostatic Compression (HIC) of metal powder is a technology of the future for the manufacture of components of intermediate dimensions (of the order of a metre or more). To operate, the process requires a sealed capsule that corresponds geometrically to the preform of the part to be manufactured. The powder is then placed in this capsule, which is first evacuated to eliminate most of the gas that has infiltrated between the grains. The CIC compression operation then closes the voids between the grains by applying both high temperature and high pressure to the outer wall of the capsule, which must therefore remain sealed throughout the sintering process. Metal additive manufacturing (MM) can be useful for making capsules with complex shapes. The presentation will therefore focus on the manufacture of capsules using metallic FA, which consists of making a shell by depositing weld beads one on top of the other.

The lecture will be preceded by a presentation to lycée Léon Blum students in Le Creusot in the afternoon.
