“Painting with a roller… Unrolled upon returning from a long journey from Burgundy to Umbria, from Cluny to Assisi via the Alps. Painting transferred from the feet to the hand, guided by the eyes and the mind into six long, colourful, drawn strips. A mixture and jumble of images from the road, of days and evenings, of all the encounters, of trees, people, animals both small and large, peaceful or restless, of splendid walls, towers and a thousand bell towers, of frescoes hidden in dark churches, of the minute and the grandiose, pebbles and streams, rain and sunshine. The linear, speech-bubble-like format captures for me the perpetual movement of walking, the jumbled succession of the path’s myriad impressions. Painting, drawing and walking are actions that converge in the same movement: it is simply moving forward once more. The image is finished, but the thought it carries does not stop, just like walking.”
