Exposition Tomasz Rogalski

Tomasz Rogalski, born in Montceau-les-Mines in 1933, returned to Poland with his family after the war, at the age of 14. Passionate about art, he dreamt of joining the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków, but eventually turned to studying mining engineering at the Technical University of Gliwice. Despite his career in the mining industry, he never gave up painting. Throughout his life, he developed a distinctive body of work inspired by life in the mines, nature and his imagination. Using various painting and drawing techniques, he created free-spirited and poetic worlds where reality and imagination intertwine.

After his death, his daughter undertook the task of cataloguing his entire artistic legacy. The exhibition presents a selection of works created in the 1980s and 1990s, drawn from several series. It invites the public to explore, alongside the artist, the richness of the imagination – the source of our thoughts, our dreams and our view of the world.
